Luottamusmies

Mannerheim was one of the most impressive figures during the first three decades of the Finnish independence. He was a great man even in his own lifetime.

He was born on the family estate at Louhisaari in Askainen on the 4th of June, 1867. His birthday is celebrated as the Flag Day of the Finnish Armed Forces.

Mannerheim’s anniversaries were occasions of prominent celebration, his 70th and 75th birthdays in 1937 and 1942, in particular.
